A qualified architect and RIBA member since 2000, Neil leads the team to provide direction on Vincent & Brown’s large scale regeneration projects, both in York and nationwide. His work also includes masterplanning for York city centre and streetscape design for mixed-use developments. Alongside his residential work, Neil’s specialisms include heritage, work-place, education, leisure and commercial.
Manchester-based for most of his early career, Neil previously held Director positions at some of the city’s leading commercial practices including Broadway Malyan and MCAU. His work overseas took him to Shanghai, Singapore and Istanbul.
Following a chance introduction at their sons’ nursery and a meeting of minds, Neil and Lee tentatively joined forces and the first seeds of a new practice were sown. After a series of successful joint ventures, Neil returned to his hometown of York and Vincent & Brown was born in 2018. The business continues to go from strength to strength with a team of 25 highly skilled architects, designers and support staff.
An exceptional designer with a creative insight and a proactive approach, Neil’s management expertise and ability to lead numerous teams simultaneously, is fundamental to the running of the practice. A visionary leader with a proven ability to pre-empt and resolve planning and construction issues, Neil has overseen several high-profile projects including the redevelopment of Edgbaston Cricket Stadium and Grade II* Ashton Old Baths in Greater Manchester.
His architecture has been shortlisted for several prestigious awards over the years including the Greater Manchester Building of the Year, Historic England Best Rescue of a Heritage Building and The Sunday Times British Homes Awards.
