Peel International Trade Centre
A project proposal for a new, ultramodern International Trade Centre at Wirral Waters, Birkenhead. With a total footprint of 250,000m², the exhibition space will accommodate 1,000 trade showrooms for global markets including India, China and South Korea, to exhibit, sell and distribute wholesale goods into the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
The vast two-storey trading space is located on former brownfield dockland, south of the Wirral. The exhibition space is set to rival China’s international trade fairs, including Canton, attracting investment and stimulating economic growth within the region. The ambitious scheme presents a huge opportunity to transform the Left Bank of the River Mersey into a gateway to Europe and destination for innovation, sustainability and industry.
The Wirral Waters scheme was designated as one of 11 enterprise zones in the UK and the International Trade Centre is the catalyst for major regeneration to transform over 500 acres of the Birkenhead Docklands.
Team members of Vincent & Brown designed and project-led the facility whilst at a former practice.
