Old Quay
Planning consent was achieved for the extensive regeneration of a former shipyard adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal.
This mixed-use development including 466 residential units, embraces views across the River Mersey and has provided a new face & waterfront for Runcorn. The development consists of independent blocks, arranged perpendicular to the canal edge to maximise views across the water as well as maintain private landscaped courtyards across the site. The development spearheaded the regeneration of a neglected brownfield area into a vibrant new community and opens up public access to the old quay of the Manchester Ship Canal. The architectural challenges presented by the site, which has a strong industrial heritage, offered opportunities to create a scheme that would strive to enhance and celebrate this area.
The scheme was designed and led by our director Neil Brown whilst at Broadway Malyan Architects.
