Carp Lane, Crockey Hill

Two new build detached dwellings located in Crockey Hill.

The site, a picturesque plot set within a woodland and flanked by small lakes close to the A19, had previously been occupied by Ackroyds agricultural buildings. The brief, to create two detached homes for the family with one larger 5 bedroom dwelling and one 4 bedroom bungalow. The client sought a property that achieved a grand entrance, large floor to ceiling heights and family & religiously orientated spaces. The designs delivered on the brief, whilst taking reference from the agricultural and woodland setting with appropriate rustic material selection and well considered landscaped screening of new mature trees to the site boundaries.

In a challenging context Vincent & Partners worked closely with the City of York Council to develop a scheme that was appropriate to the site setting, whilst fulfilling the clients aspirations. The proposals married the necessity to keep overall building volume lower than the existing agricultural buildings, strategic placement of the dwellings away from the A19 sight lines and minimising roof line height with the clients requirements for grand family focussed homes.
