Topping Out at The Quadrant, Bootham Row, York

A mixed-use development with ground level offices and high-quality residential above, The Quadrant comprises 8 luxury apartments and a stunning townhouse, all with unparalleled views of the iconic York Minster.

The scheme will transform the site to become an accessible and attractive public realm, with a commercial unit to the ground floor and a new footway link. Timber benches, raised planting and small trees will create an urban parkland to the front of the development. This month Vincent & Brown’s Mark Stothard and Tom Barnes met with Pat Walker of StructEco Ltd to observe the ongoing installation of the roof structure to the apartment block.

As our resident technical director, Mark leads the delivery of projects on-site for Vincent & Brown and has considerable experience running projects at construction stage. He has been fundamental in the delivery of some of our most prestigious work, including The Old Fire Station and Chelsea Barracks Marketing Suite. His expertise in sustainable building practices and standards of workmanship has been intrinsic to enhancing design through technical innovation.

Tom is studying to be an architectural technologist, currently on day release from Sheffield Hallam University and is proving to have a keen eye for the construction stages. The Quadrant is due for completion in January 2021 and is one of a number of projects that Tom and Mark will closely monitor through to completion.
