What House Awards 2020 Silver Winner!

The Old Fire Station scoops Silver at the 2020 What House Awards!

Vincent & Brown are delighted to announce that The Old Fire Station has scooped Best Mixed-Use Development at the 2020 What House Awards. Situated on Clifford Street, the joint venture between London Ebor Developments PLC and The Helmsley Group, forms part of a landmark regeneration scheme in York City Centre.

The award ceremony, due to take place in London this November, was held virtually and hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganathan, in his usual self-deprecating style. The Vincent & Brown team watched on in anticipation from the office, with pizza and beers to mark the occasion. The whole team were delighted when it was announced The Old Fire Station had been awarded Silver place.

The judges referenced the sensitive architectural language, retained elevations of the historic building and sympathetic use of local materials including York Stone. Commenting on the scheme, Judge Pascal Wensink said:

“It was the attention to detail, whether this was the external brickwork detailing or the bespoke kitchens, different in every residential unit, that caught the judges' eyes”.

Vincent and Brown provided full architectural services on this complex and historic site.
