Reserved Matters Approval for The Gasworks

Vincent & Brown have achieved Reserved Matters planning approval for 215 new dwellings on the site of a former gasworks in Heworth, York. Zone A gained unanimous approval, whilst zone C received 15 of 16 votes in support of the development at Novembers committee.

Vincent & Brown have undertaken a cooperative process with council officers and the city architect over the past 2 years to fine tune the aesthetics of the scheme, ensuring the highest design quality that delivers on the design code principles set out in the Outline approval of March 2020.

The project is set within a landscape led masterplan, providing a high-quality pedestrian and cycle focused environment. The two development zones have been designed to complement one another, sharing architectural details and tactile material palettes, whilst being distinct in overall aesthetic. Zone A draws inspiration from neighbouring Georgian properties, to inspire a contemporary street of vertical townhouse frontages whilst zone C delivers a series of smaller pavilion like buildings overlooking the new neighbourhood green. This central landscaped communal space at the heart of the development offers 2,500sqm of landscaped greenery, children’s play area and exercise trail.

Vincent & Brown are appointed to deliver full architectural services with the project due on site mid-2022.
