Proposals Submitted for 4-6 Parliament Street

Proposals by Vincent & Brown involving the remodelling and upgrading of 4-6 Parliament Street in York have been submitted for planning approval. The scheme is set to provide a new lease of life to the prominent city centre building through repurposing unused upper floors to create 21 self-contained holiday let apartments.

As well as bringing the redundant floors back into use, the scheme also involves the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing retail space, providing a new independent entrance from the street to serve the new accommodation.

A major challenge of the scheme involved finding a suitable way in which to connect and access the patchwork of existing buildings whilst respecting the historical character of the surrounding area. The innovative solution involves the creation of a new circulation core and external roof terrace which, aside from providing the necessary access, offers a calm outdoor environment in which guests can relax away from the bustling streets beyond.

Vincent & Brown and applicant Grantside (North Star one) expect to receive a planning decision in the new year.
