Coney Street Riverside Submitted for Planning

Vincent & Brown are delighted to announce that a full plans application has been submitted to York City Council for Coney Street Riverside.

Coney Street Riverside comprises of Zones 02, 03 and 04 of Helmsley Group’s ambitious Coney Street Masterplan and proposes sensitive refurbishment of the historic buildings along Coney Street and new modern buildings facing the riverside. The riverside proposals will animate and serve a new riverside public route formed of a series of landscaped pocket parks linking Ouse bridge with the Guildhall. A new pedestrianised, landscaped route will run between Coney Street and the river, unlocking the riverside potential and reinstating the importance of the River Ouse to the city.

The scheme aims to revitalise Coney Street and to provide public access to the river and includes a mix of small retail units, perfect for independent retailers, larger retail units, leisure units to the river and purpose built student accommodation to the upper levels. The proposals have been designed to be fully accessible, sensitive to the heritage of the site, appropriate for the changing face of retail and welcoming to the proposed residents, locals and visitors that will enjoy the new spaces and facilities.

The proposals have developed following public exhibitions and feedback and are the culmination of extensive collaboration with the project design team and wider stakeholders and interested parties including York City Council.

The Vincent & Brown project team includes Neil Brown, Rob Miller, Toby Harling, Thomas Hudson and Katie Hammond.
